Jean LaCroix – Owner
Born and raised in France in an 18th century farm house, I have come to appreciate the unique creativity inherent in building construction techniques. After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I focused my interests on residential building and, since, have entered various independent study programs to increase my knowledge in this field. These include
- Energy efficient building techniques – Certified Energy Star Partner
- Timber framing – Member of the Timber Framers Guild
- 3D home design – Certified Chief Architect Professional in 2011
The Mountain Shop Construction was founded in 2004 and is certified with the State of Vermont and fully insured.
I have developed a reliable local building crew as well as good relationships with local subcontractors.
Efficiency Vermont: As a qualified Energy Start Partner, I offer efficiency services ranging from consultation to building, both for remodeling and new construction.
I offer energy audit reports: a detailed list of improvement steps toward a more energy efficient product, whether it involves the envelope of a house (windows, insulation, weatherization, etc) or mechanical elements (heating systems, air ventilation recovery, use of different materials for different applications, etc).
I also offer passive solar designs and work closely with alternative energy partners specializing in solar, wind and geothermal systems.
